Large Bowl from Goodwill – Ready for Fall
90 degrees or cooler in Phoenix and My House of Goodwill is slowly making a subtle transition into fall.
First stop: my kitchen table. I purchased this HUGE wooden bowl fromGoodwill of Central Arizona for $14.99 a couple of years ago.
Without a doubt, it’s my favorite Goodwill purchase of all time! It goes from winter to summer and now to fall without a hitch.
What’s your favorite Goodwill purchase?
Cleaning a Cutting Board
I always manage to find wooden cutting boards at Goodwill that I can’t resist.
First, I sanitize the board with a mixture of bleach, hot water and dish detergent. I’ll even let it soak for a bit if I feel it needs some extra cleaning.
Once I give the board a good scrubbing and it’s completely dry, my next step is to use some wood oil that’s food safe and specially made to keep the wood from drying and cracking. I rub it into the wood until it no longer keeps absorbing the oil then I let it dry for a few hours.
This is one collection that could easily get out of hand, like my Milk Glass, if I let it.

Transitioning into Fall with Goodwill Finds
Transitioning into fall decor with some Goodwill finds.
– The Family Room: We spend the majority of our time watching sporting events in this room so I want it to be a nice comfortable place for friends and family to relax and enjoy the game.
I found this Native American inspired blanket at Goodwill for a steal and used it to layer on the area rug we use all-year-round. It adds a cozy feel to our family room and also some color, texture and pattern as well.
I added a wooden tray to the ottoman to hold the snacks and remotes and I continually add pillows, as I find them at Goodwill, throughout the season.
Have you transformed your favorite gathering spaces to fall yet? I’m always on the lookout for darker pieces and fall colored decor at Goodwill. It’s a nice way to embrace the season without breaking the bank.
Have a beautiful day,
The Goodwill Gal
