This H&M sheer top from Goodwill is perfect for the 80 degree temperature we are scheduled to have in Phoenix today.
I paired the top with jeans, super comfy wedges, a vintage bracelet and i’m ready to soak up the perfect weather!

Goodwill goes to Cabo:
I received this photo bright and early this morning.
Goodwill Gal reader, Sheila, was at the airport ready to board a plane to Cabo San Lucas modeling her latest find from Goodwill of Central Arizona.
She is wearing an adorable top from the clothing brand Tart. Sheila paid $4.99 for it, but anyone who is familiar with this line of comfy clothing knows shirt prices sell for an average of $69-$100!
With her savings, Sheila will have a few extra pesos to spend on margaritas and street tacos!

My trifle bowl from Goodwill is the glass dessert dish that keeps on giving.
I paid $4.79 (after coupon) and love it’s versatility.
I’ve used it for it’s intended use as a dessert trifle, but when it’s not in use, I pull it out of the cupboard and repurpose it.

Right this minute, it sits in my bathroom holding wash cloths, loofahs and some pretty soap within arms reach of the sink and bathtub.
Maybe next week I”ll use it to layer strawberries, whipped cream and pound cake for a delicious Valentine’s Day treat?

My living room has always been a work in progress. It’s the first room that greets you when you come in from the front door so it helps to have something fresh and orderly to trick the guests into thinking the rest of the house is fresh and in order, well, that’s my philosophy. I’ve said before that nothing is off limits from real life in our home so at any given time you will find an 8-year old playing Xbox or a 10-year old sprawled out on the couch reading a book. I’ll admit to logging many hours snacking on popcorn and watching The Housewives from the couch as well.
The inspiration for this room all started with a $45 buffet cabinet I purchased from Goodwill, specifically for the entry way. (click here to see the transformation) After a fresh coat of turquoise paint, I brought in more colors of blue and green to bring a soothing feeling to the space, no matter how loud the Housewives argue, I’m still at peace in this room.
One of my favorite pieces in this room, another Goodwill purchase, is the lamp by the couch. The green colors of this vintage piece are deep and rich. I’ve loved it since the day I spotted it on the shelf. I paid $7.99 and have seen similar lamps for no less than $55. I added the natural colored shade from a lamp I had in my lair and called it a day. These are the simple things that make me smile.
Have you found something at Goodwill that has become the inspiration for an entire room? For me, that’s the beauty of shopping Goodwill, I can change up any piece of furniture or decor item to make it work for what I like, especially when I feel the need to paint it again and go for something different.

Hello February! January was a busy month for me. I made an honest attempt to organize some areas in my home. It’s a never ending process, right? February will be an equally busy month and I look forward to participating in the experience.

My House of Goodwill: The Lair
Last Saturday I woke up with a notion to organize the entrance to my lair. My lair is the closet underneath the stairs in which I store my decor items from Goodwill. Very few have seen the contents of my lair. Maybe it’s the fear of someone calling me a hoarder, I don’t know, but it’s my special little space jam packed with decor goodies.
The entrance to the lair is a coat closet and the space where my family keeps their everyday shoes. A shoe cube kept the athletic shoes contained and the rest of the frequently worn shoes and the many flips flops were overflowing in a basket. As you can see the space was not very organized and there was some good vertical space going to waste.
Speaking of unused, there were games, play doh toys and crafts my kids had lost interest in. Guess where those went? Goodwill.
Now back to that Saturday morning when I headed to Goodwill. The universe was listening to my lair’s cries for help because I found 3 closet organizers, which matched my shoe cube organizer, all for the low, low price of $17.99. Never without my 20% off coupon, I applied it to my purchase and walked away paying $14.30 for 3 pieces. I came straight home and went to work sorting and tossing.
As luck would have it, on Monday, at another Goodwill, I found 3 lime green cubes for $3.99 and a basket, I spray painted brown, for $1.99. Again, I applied that precious coupon, and purchased everything for less than $12.00.
One more thing, do you see those fancy brown boxes lined with floral fabric? Those are merely shoe boxes I covered in burlap and trimmed with fabric remnant. They coordinate with the lime green cubes from Goodwill and cost me less than $2 to make.
So, for less than $26.00, the entrance to my lair is now nice and neat. It’s a complete contradictory to what lies in the space, if one were to take a slight turn to the left. But that’s nothing a little red tape and a trespassing sign won’t fix!

What does The Goodwill Gal wear to a “Decorating on a Dime” segment on a local t.v. station?
Goodwill couture, of course!
Blue dress ($3.50): I turned this dress from Goodwill into a tunic by simply tucking the excess fabric under the elastic waist. It all held and stayed in place with my stretchy wide belt.
Bandolino wedges ($6.99): Like new, the material on these wedges is stretchy and provides just the right amount of support. They kept my feet happy while standing during the segment and throughout the day. With this coupon from Goodwill of Central Arizona, they were just $5.59.
