Eve – Milk Glass Green

Hi,

My name is The Goodwill Gal, and I’ve got a serious problem. I can’t say no to the unbelievable milk glass pieces from Goodwill and bring them home every chance I get. Now, don’t call the milk glass intervention people just yet, I’m not complaining and neither is my hutch, Eve.

I use my collection from Goodwill on a daily basis and chose it for a spring display on Eve, my Goodwill hutch. I added some light green, checkered wrapping paper to add some punch to the background then brought my collection out of the cabinets and on to Eve for display. I love milk glass because it’s crisp, clean and a classic.

Now that I get a good look at it, I notice I have space for more pieces.

I always say, you can never have too much milk glass and obviously my inner self has been listening!

A simple Easter/Spring Place Setting

On a recent visit to Goodwill, I fell in love with this green, silk scarf. It’s super soft, silky, and because purple was the color of the week, it was only $2.50.

 

The light greens and blues speak Spring to me, so I decided I wouldn’t be wearing it anytime soon but instead using it as the inspiration for my Easter/Spring tablescape.

I started with some Pier One chargers, which were new in package from Goodwill a couple of years ago. Would you believe I bought them for $1 each on Dollar Day? It was in the month of December when I purchased them so maybe people looked passed them in search of red or gold pieces, who knows, but now they’re mine!

I’ve always said that my favorite section of Goodwill is the linens and that’s where I found these NEW Pottery Barn napkins. There were eight, crisp, white linen napkins trimmed in silver, complete with labels, just waiting for me to take them home. They were each priced at .69. .69 people! I love Goodwill!

Just like the service Pottery Barn offers in their catalog, I had the napkins monogrammed at my local embroidery shop. The total for both the napkins and the monogram came in at under $20.

 

To coordinate with the blues and greens in the scarf (turned table runner), I added another Goodwill find, blue handled silverware.

To complete the setting, I wrapped the napkins in jute and tucked in a little packet of carrot seeds to tie in with the bunnies on the table.

This year, the table is set in something simple and fresh, using some popular retail tableware, but the good news is, I found it all at Goodwill.

3 Tier Pie Plant Stand Decorated for Easter

Using the stand I made with pie plates from Goodwill, I got this idea from a magazine and decided to dress my Easter table in something simple and fresh this year.

I placed artificial wheat grass along with some decorative rocks on each tier, threw in some chocolate eggs, then topped it all off with a vintage glass rabbit.

I spotted the glass rabbit, in perfect condition, on the shelves of Goodwill and bought it for $2.99. After a Google search, it seems my rabbit, a vintage glass piece once filled with candy, sells on various sites for $20 and up. I love using my Goodwill rabbit for Easter and Spring decor so I won’t be selling it anytime soon, but what I do love is that there is a history behind it.

Easter Decor

I’ve had this 3 tiered wired stand from Goodwill for quite some time. Right after I purchased it, I introduced it to my spray painting station and gave it a nice coat of creamy white.

 

It’s gone through some changes before but for the past year it’s been sitting beside my bathtub and was begging for a change so I took it to my spray painting station once again and this time, painted it light blue.

For an Easter display, I filled it with green paper grass, faux eggs, candy, fuzzy chicks and also hung some ceramic birds on the tiers. I also added the tray, another Goodwill find, just to contain the crazy wisps of grass. It’s the perfect Easter display for my kitchen island and I’m sure it probably get another change up for spring and summer.

I’ve certainly gotten my cost per use out of this Goodwill find which, let’s face it, that’s what thifty shopping is all about!

My Goodwill Look of the Day: A Goodwill of Central Arizona Grand Opening

Goodwill of Central Arizona opened their newest location in South Phoenix on Friday and I was there to see the mob of people come through the doors. It was a gathering of people, just like myself, who love the thrill of the hunt. Just when I thought I was the ultimate fan of Goodwill, I realized I’m simply an amateur as some shoppers started their Grand Opening day in line at 3:00 a.m.!

Any competitive shopper knows comfort is key in the sport of thrifty shopping so I wore this easy, breezy maxi dress for easy movement.

When it comes to a Grand Opening, Goodwill of Central Arizona has certainly made a name for itself as the place to be!

Entertaining with Goodwill.

When my friend Shelley and I decorated for our friend’s Fifty & Fabulous party, Shelley went to Goodwill and gathered up some glassware to make a wonderful veggie bar.

With an assortment of tall, short and wide mouthed containers, ranging in price from $4.99 – $1.99, she filled them with colorful veggies.

The result was a beautiful vegetable and dip presentation.

Dear Goodwill Shoe Diary:

Remember the time I was strolling the aisles of your Ahwutukee shoe aisle and found these never worn, cork wedges with suede fridge from one of my favorite shoe designers, Gianni Bini, on your shoe rack? They were the perfect size and best of all, only $7.99. Of course, I used my Goodwill of Central Arizona coupon and paid $6.39.

Well, I wore them to last night to March Martini Night with the ladies and had them drooling, literally, at my feet.

I wasn’t the only one wearing Goodwill couture that night. I met up with my friend Sheila and she was wearing a sassy little top from Goodwill as well. Take a look what Sheila had to say about her Goodwill find here.
