Hi everyone,
In January we had our kitchen island refinished and I thought I’d share some photos with you. We have been wanting to make it just a bit darker and warmer for quite some time, like a couple of years, and never got around to calling in some professionals to get it done. At the beginning of 2018 I made a list of things I wanted to get done around the house and to finally complete some of the projects that were still unfinished. The island was at the top of the list.
You might say “it looked fine” and really it was, but I always felt like I needed it add a little more brown tones instead of the previous, golden tones, to create a warmer space in the kitchen.
I called Bob from B&B Refinishing and lucky for me, he had a job that had just been postponed, so he could come over the next day and start the project, all for a reasonable price, of course. He’s been refinishing cabinetry for many years so he’s a real pro, in fact, he painted the cabinetry at our previous house 7 years ago and they held up like iron! I sent his wife a photo of the kitchen island and an inspiration photo as well and she sent Bob over the next day. Awesome! He paid attention to the detailed prep work and making sure the house was well ventilated and the furniture and cabinetry were all protected then stripped it to the bare wood. After a couple of test boards, he was ready to go and stained the island. After 24 hours of curing, I wasted no time adding my decor. If you need your cabinets or island refinished in the Phoenix area, Bob is your guy:

Now in February, we have a crew working on some details on the back patio that again, have put off, and it’s going to look amazing where they’re complete. You know I’ll be sharing pics. You can also stop by my Instagram Stories as a share the progress there.
‘till next time,
Lisa

Your counter really does look so much prettier after the refinish! I thought it was pretty to begin with but is so much richer tone now. Stained wood tends to turn golden over time…I can see that our pine kitchen table needs a redo soon.
Your kitchen is lovely.
