If you’re feeling like a little DIY project this weekend, I give a step by step process in the August issue of Go Gilbert magazine on how I transformed my dated, oak pedestal table into something right out of a Pottery Barn catalog.
My husband and I purchased this oak table, along with the matching chairs (not shown), from an oak furniture store in the early 90’s when oak was wildly popular. I now frequently see similar natural oak tables at Goodwill for much lower prices than I paid for mine. I love these tables because they are solid pieces of furniture which stand the test of time. With 3 kid testers and a multitude of guests, I speak from experience as to their durability.
For a complete transformation of my table, I donated the 4 original oak chairs to Goodwill, and purchased 4 brown leather chairs and 2 side chairs covered in fabric. With black as the paint color, it’s so versatile and goes with any table scape I create.
As a future weekend project, I’m thinking about repainting the table again, this time, perhaps in a creamy or crisp white or maybe even grey. So many choices for one long lasting piece of furniture. I highly recommend you check out the article, shop Goodwill and transform a table or any piece of furniture over the weekend!
Happy DIY’ing,
The Goodwill Gal
