The Backyard Gazebo April 17, 2012 By TheGoodwillGal The temperatures are scheduled to heat up this week so that means my kids will be jumping in the pool for some fun! I love to be outside with the kids, but I don’t like to be exposed to the sun too much. While they’re in the pool I keep an eye on them from under the protection of the gazebo. To further myself from being exposed to the sun, I added some drapes from Goodwill to three sides of the gazebo. Included in the purchase of the gazebo was a bug netting enclosure, but that does me no good when it comes to the afternoon Arizona scorching sun. I’ve priced outdoor curtains at home improvement stores and they are $30 for each panel. Any curtain is no match for Arizona summer elements, it will tear the panels to shreds. After replacing the torn and weather gazebo roof top every two years , I’d say I speak from experience. I found some lined drapes from Goodwill for $12.99 each, used my coupon and paid $63.00 for 6 panels. With some metal hooks they went up without any alterations. They’re heavy duty and have worked year round for 2 years! The curtain ties came from Goodwill for .99 each and work perfectly. Besides providing me protection from the sun the drapes create a cozy little outdoor room for me to kick up my feet and enjoy the sounds of my kids enjoying the water.
