Entertaining with Goodwill: Fabulous at Fifty Party
My friend’s husband recently surprised her with a birthday party. The theme was “Fabulous at Fifty” and he asked me to be in charge of the centerpieces.
Of course I said yes, not only was it an honor to put something together for my dear friend, but let’s be honest, this would give me yet another reason to shop Goodwill. That’s right, I said Goodwill, not a party or craft store for this gal. When I plan a party, this is my go-to party supply store.
The party colors were black and white with pops of hot pink and I had 4 months advance notice to start shopping for some fabulous centerpiece ideas.
It didn’t take long for these black and white boxes to appear on the shelves at Goodwill. There were six damask patterned boxes for $.69 each. The fact that they were cardboard didn’t stop me, I could imagine filling them with fresh roses to glam them up. Since they were only .69 each, I had plenty of money left over in the budget for some beautiful and fresh, hot pink roses.
On party day, using florist foam, I filled the boxes with hot pink roses and greenery. The result was fabulous! Using crystal candle holders, from Goodwill, I placed the centerpieces at various heights on the tables.
Although I was only in charge of the centerpieces, I just couldn’t help myself to do some more decorating for the party. Stay tuned to this Goodwill Gal channel as I’ll be sharing more “Fabulous at Fifty” decorating ideas.
If you are planning a party, fancy or casual, never underestimate what you will find at Goodwill!
Party on,
