Entertaining with Goodwill: Fabulous at Fifty Party, the making of a lounge area.
When my friend and I were asked to decorate our friends backyard for a surprise birthday party, we decided to create a cool lounge area for everyone to enjoy. Our friends have a gorgeous back yard with a eye catching, can’t miss, huge gazebo for entertaining.
To make the space cozy, we started by creating “walls” of fabric. As luck would have it, I found one huge bolt of sheer fabric at Goodwill for $9.99. I’m not sure how that happened!
To give the lounge area some ambience at night, I brought in my trusty Goodwill $7.99 white lamp, dressed up with some pink netting, and also added strands and strands of clear lights behind the sheer fabric.
I bought this pastel colored, 5X8 ft. rug at Goodwill for $14.99 and painted it black and white with spray paint. I used 5 cans of .99 cent paint so the total cost for a custom rug was $20. Can’t beat that!
The party was a hit and the birthday gal loved the decor, she says we gave her a “Sex in the City” party!
Whoever says glamour has to come with a high price tag hasn’t shopped Goodwill!
Have a fabulous day,
The Goodwill Gal
